LOL at 0:17 it sounds like Kirk said "...with what Star Fleet just pwned it up..."

And remove the space from the URL above, between the D and the 8, that YouTube deliberately inserts in a stupid attempt to prevent you from going to some other web site, even when the URL is to another YouTube page. Way to go, YouTube and Google, your owner!

No matter what Shatner says now, during or before Nov 2006, he and Abrams talked about a possible appearance for Shatner in the next Star Trek film--here's Shatner on Craig Ferguson's CBS Late Late Show:

I could be wrong...but didn't the theme commonly referred to as the TNG theme first show up in Star Trek V, in the opening credits? Don't remember hearing the theme in any prior films...been years since I've watched them though.

It was used for that movie, but it's first use was Kirk's theme and the Title theme from Star Trek The Motion Picture, which had an absolutely fantastic soundtrack, dispite some functionality problems within the film itself.

Most of the footage was taken from their last motion picture "The Undiscovered Country". Shatner was obviously wear his famous toupee and stood in front of a green screen while they added a bridge scene behind him (note that none of the actors moved while the time Shatner was talking)

This commercial does its job! It speaks to the consumer with intelligent humor. How refreshing!

Of course it isn't fully Shatner's head.. but his head HEAVILY fixed up. You think Shat looks terrific as a heavily airbrushed dude? Eek.

Kirk, Spock, & Chekov come back for one last time in this very well done Star Trek DirecTV commercial. Some nice CGI was used here.
