Get a load of THIS junk!

Note: May be a bit mature/controversial - it's a cartoon of the "History" of the US of A. (I don't think there's any profanity in it - I watched it first - but it's obviously controversial.)

The amazing thing?

One of my friends' kids came home from school, where THE TEACHER had handed out a piece of paper with this link on it to HELP THEM UNDERSTAND WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED.

This is absolutely ridiculous.

It's an insult to history and it's an insult to any American white or black.

It's so inaccurate and misleading it should be a crime for teachers to desire students to see it for any kind of realistic insight into actual History!

I think that's by the producers of South Park. That should make your head nod....

No that's from Micheal Moore.

I think Moore wrote the dialoge but I heard that the animators and producers of South Park were involved. They all have the same voices.

This just proves that Moored flunked out of the 4th grade....

Pretty pathetic. I love it when people try to make history line up with their agenda.

I'd be standing in the principal's office - if not on his desk! - demanding something be done about that teacher! . . . and it wouldn't hurt my feelings to take this matter to the school board, with my attorney in tow. We have to draw the line between education and insanity.

Hey, the teacher probably thinks that IS history. Now how scary is that?

You gotta be kidding me. I think the teacher needs to take some remedial history lessons him/herself. It's rather sad that anyone would believe that video was even remotely close to 'how it really happened'.

I guess they're getting ready for the next big anti-gun push though.

Well, when I was in school (and I admit it's been awhile) we were taught to use "primary sources" to understand what really happened in history.

Apparently the criteria for "primary sources" has deteriorated completely....or maybe the use of "primary sources" has been obliterated.

At any rate....this is the poorest excuse for curriculum I have ever seen.

You are right. Matt Stone (of South Park and a former Columbine student) was involved with the film, but they had nothing to do with the cartoon.

This will explain it better than I can.

Quote:
Shortly afterward, an animated segment, written by Moore and produced by FlickerLab, attempts to link America's supposed enthusiasm for guns to racism, and at one point depicts the National Rifle Association and Ku Klux Klan as interchangeable institutions of white supremacy. Matt Stone and Trey Parker were first asked to animate it. Stone, and Team America co-creator Trey Parker, who oppose gun control, have objected to the close similarities between the style of the cartoon segment (which they played no part in producing) and that of South Park. While publicising the 2004 film Team America: World Police, Stone explained that Team America depicts Moore as a suicide bomber in retaliation and the films protagonist describes him as a "Fat socialist weasel". Matt Stone later stated that he still thinks Michael Moore is "a nice guy," but he did not like the way Moore made it look as though he made the cartoon.

I sure hope your friend takes this trash to the principal of the school and on to the district offices. Parents need to stay aware of what teachers are teaching in the classroom and notify administration when something is amiss. I can't tell you how many times teachers in my district where I teach taught something or brought in a film into a classroom and the principal didn't know anything about it until brought to his/her attention. If a teacher gave my son or daughter that link, I'd be down at the office quick as a wink and would be very vocal! What nonsense.

This is the easy way to teach history and still collect a paycheck. No pain, no brain.

Where have all the true scholars gone?

Now, if the teacher said to go and watch it to understand why a good education is important... well that would be different

Said teacher could/should then have a paper to hand out explaining all the errors and outright lies so they can learn more about true history, the power of propaganda, and the dangers of forgoing a good, sound, education.

This might be repetitive.. but what a hateful and stupid video..

The idea that any teacher could promote this to their class makes my head spin ..
